After a long break due to unforseen cicumstances we’ve just had our first lunch this season
Seven of us sat down to lunch on what was billed the hottest day of the year so far . The main course is always agreed on before the date and is the same for everyone but there is always a choice of starter and desert.
The menu for this lunch was as follows..
Home made bread rolls
Smoked mackerel pate
with onion relish .
toast and a salad garnish
Warm Salmon ,prawn and asparagus tartlet
with a salad garnish
Fan of melon
Seasonal fruit coulis
Homemade tomato and roasted Pepper soup
Home made hunters chicken
(Chicken with cheese wrapped in smoked ham baked with a homemade b.b.q.sauce .)
Grilled large field mushrooms
Grilled vine tomatoes
Chocolate and baileys torte served with chocolate sauce and vanilla ice cream
Homemade viennese biscuit.
Warm apricot and almond tart
Tea or coffee and mints
Anyone is welcome to bring wine if they want to.
The group who dined this time were insistent that the cost of lunch should rise and paid £ 12 a head .which is good news for our funds and is probably more realistic than previously.
The conversation turned to more dates and it was suggested that perhaps afternoon tea might be a new idea to try perhaps starting at 2.30pm.
This might be a good idea during the summer months .
Might try it later in August .
I’ll get some dates and before the meeting
Work in progress
But something like the following
Assorted finger sandwiches
Scones .jam and cream
Sponge cake .
Selection of individual cakes
( unlikely to include cupcakes 😊)
(or something similar)
Tea ,coffee or cold drinks
The plan is that everything except the sliced bread for the sandwiches will be homemade
The theme for this month’s draw is “holidays”
We did this one last year .
The winner had a lovely prize .
Miniature toiletries. Wipes . Sunscreen . after sun care .wine.
Puzzle books, paperbacks.pens . Tissues .Postcards .toothpaste .disposable tooth brushes .document case . Paracetamol.and a first aid kit.insect repellent .cartons of soft drinks .snacks and barley sugar.
So much I can’t remember it all .
That’s what so good about this way of doing a raffle ; it makes us think and sometime the thoughts are inspired
Our speaker for July is Gemma Parker from ” Gemma’s Crafty Cakes” in Felixstowe. Gemma will be showing us how to make a sitting teddy bear – in cake and sugar of course.
RAFFLE – theme is “Picnics!”
Note for your diary
Our speaker for September will be Ribanna Cristescu. Ribanna visited us last year and did a demonstration of pulled and blown sugar .
This time she will be doing a demonstration of chocolate work .
We would love to welcome any visitors to join us for what should be an interesting and informative evening.
The theme for May’s Raffle is everything PINK!
